This week Murfreesboro Rescue Mission officially launched its Cold Water for the Homeless campaign.
Sheltering the homeless is still our main objective and we are very active in seeking a place to get started. However, our most urgent need at this point in time is assistance in providing heat relief. Whenever temperatures soar to 90 degrees and above, the Murfreesboro Rescue Mission heads to the streets to provide relief in the form of cold water. For most of the homeless, walking is the only transportation they can afford.
This puts many at risk of dehydration, heat stroke and other heat related issues. What you and I take for granted, the homeless cannot always easily acquire. Water can provide many benefits to those who do not have ready access to it. To most, its relief from the unbearable heat; to another, it’s the only thing they will get to cool them off. Others even use it for bathing or cooking. Whatever the use, it’s needed and they love to get it. On days when temperatures rise to 90 degrees and above, MRM is committed to delivering cold water to those who are in need.
Would you consider a small donation to help us provide water for those who are experiencing homelessness in our community?
